5389: Gamifying Professional Learning for Blended Teaching
Being a teacher who is deeply passionate about game design and its potential to enrich educational experiences, I am excited to present my idea for a blended teaching project that incorporates gamification. This webpage shows the Professional Learning Outline in support of my innovation project.
At the heart of this project lies the belief that learning should be an active, engaging, and transformative process. By blending traditional teaching methods with game design principles and cutting-edge technology, we can foster a growth mindset, nurture neuroplasticity, and unleash the full potential of our learners.
The professional development plan for this initiative has been meticulously designed to align with the Five Principles of Effective Professional Development (Gulamhussein et al., 2013), ensuring a comprehensive and influential learning journey for our teachers.
1. Significant and Ongoing Professional Learning; This program spans an entire academic year, allowing educators ample time to delve deeply into the concepts and acquire essential skills.
2.Individualized for Each Classroom Environment; While upholding core principles consistently, the implementation will be customized to fit the specific needs and dynamics of each classroom, guaranteeing utmost relevance and practicality.
3. Active Participation; Getting hands on, working together in groups and giving regular feedback will motivate our teachers to actively participate, making them feel more connected and invested in the teaching process.
4. Modeling; Drawing from my experience as a game designer and educator, I will set the standard by showcasing effective methods and offering a blueprint for our educators to follow.
5. Specific to Grade Levels; This initiative is crafted to suit different grade levels, ensuring that the materials and approaches are well suited to the unique developmental stages and educational objectives of each class.
