Blended Learning Game Project:

Implementing 4DX w/the Influencer Model

To facilitate seamless cross-disciplinary cooperation, my innovation project will leverage the structured accountability framework of  4 Disciplines of Execution(Covey 2015). This system breaks ambitious visions into metrics-driven actions - aligning daily objectives to overarching goals. Motivation principles from the "Influencer Model" (Patterson 2008) will address intrinsic drive along with skills development.

The ultimate objectives are increased retention of neuroplasticity concepts and heightened student teamwork capabilities. If it succeeds, this gamified approach could provide a model for igniting curiosity and growth across many subject areas.

Focus on the Wildly Important Goal (WIG):

  • Our WIG: By October 31st, 2026, have students showcase their completed game prototypes that effectively incorporate learning elements on neuroplasticity and growth mindset.

Act on the Lead Measures:

Regularly, we'll collaborate to identify 2-3 key actions each student group needs to take daily or weekly to achieve our WIG effectively. These may include:

  • Game Design: Refining game mechanics, testing and iterating based on playtesting.

  • Biology: Integrating accurate information on neuroplasticity into game elements.

  • English: Crafting engaging storylines and dialogues that reinforce learning objectives.

We'll establish a routine of accountability, tracking progress through meetings and online platforms. As the leader, I'll provide encouragement and purpose by empowering students with autonomy, using strategies from Influencer Motivation.

Keeping a Compelling Scoreboard:

Together, we'll create a scoreboard to track both successes and potential delays (lag measures). Examples include:

  • Completed game levels

  • Implemented learning elements

  • User feedback from playtesting

This visualization helps maintain motivation. I'll offer feedback and guidance based on individual abilities, using Influencer personal ability enhancement techniques. Reviewing the scoreboard regularly keeps momentum high, and we'll celebrate small victories and individual advancements.

Create a Cadence of Accountability:

During this phase, I'll support students in maintaining focus and overcoming distractions. We'll address production obstacles using Influencer structural ability enhancement methods for problem-solving. My role entails:

  • Providing resources and technical support to game design students.

  • Addressing any production schedule barriers for students across disciplines.

  • Ensuring consistent progress by meeting weekly goals with video prototypes, game builds, or script revisions.

Habit:

Once we achieve the WIG of showcasing the games, we will immediately move on to new projects, solidifying 4DX as our operating system. We'll emphasize that the new standard is sustained superior performance on lead measures. As individual needs arise, we'll utilize tracking and coaching to help everyone become high performers.

Key Steps at each of the 5 stages:

Focus on the WIG:

  • Generate excitement for the game project.
  • Address any confusion or obstacles.
  • Connect the project to the shared goal of learning and innovation.

Act on Lead Measures:

  • Collaboratively establish key daily/weekly actions.
  • Build accountability through regular interaction.
  • Encourage students through autonomy and purpose.

Keeping a Compelling Scoreboard:

  • Create a physical and digital scoreboard together.
  • Track both successes and potential delays.
  • Offer feedback and guidance tailored to individual strengths.
  • Regularly review the scoreboard as a team.
  • Celebrate small victories and motivate through recognition.

Create a Cadence of Accountability:

  • Maintain focus on key actions throughout the project.
  • Collaboratively find solutions to overcome obstacles.
  • Provide necessary resources and address roadblocks.

Habit

  • Celebrate successfully showcasing the games.
  • Move immediately to new projects to solidify 4DX.
  • Emphasize sustained superior performance on lead measures.
  • Track and coach individuals to become high performers.

By combining the 4DX methodology with the Influencer Model's strategies, we can effectively guide students through the 5 stages of change. 4DX offers structure, discipline, and data-driven progress, while the Influencer Model empowers students to stay motivated and overcome challenges. Together, these frameworks become the perfect foundation for achieving our innovative blended learning game project.
